Mission

Good Shepherd Learning Center assists parents by offering a Christ-centered, quality education in a safe and loving environment, sharing the Word of God with children and their families.

Who is Welcome?

YOU are!  Everyone is welcome to visit our center any time we are open.  Everyone is welcome to come to our church worship services and Vacation Bible School.  If you do not have a church home and would like to talk to the Pastor, feel free to call 936-273-1919.

Purpose

The members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church have established Good Shepherd Learning Center in order to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all who may enter. This congregation accepts without reservation the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as the inspired and inerrant Word of God and the sole authority for teaching. Learning Center children will be taught the stories from The Holy Bible as truthful reality.

Programs & Hours of Operation

The Center is available to children 18 months, two, three, four, or five years of age. We follow the Conroe Independent School District Calendar. This calendar can be accessed at the Conroe ISD website .  It is also printed in the front part of the Interfaith phone directory. The parents will be notified of any additional dates of closure. The Center is open from 8:30 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for all programs.  Parents are welcome at the center any time during hours of operation. Activities for each class vary each day. The daily schedule is posted at the entrance to each classroom, a copy of which is available upon request. A daily snack is provided, and rest or “nap” time is offered in the afternoon to every child, three years old and younger.

Curriculum

The A Beka curriculum is used in the Four Year Old and Transition classrooms. The A Beka curriculum is based on sound scholarship, common sense, and the Word of God.   We also offer a center-based Four Year Old class.  Our center based class uses the A Beka workbooks but offers centers and manipulatives for learning and exploring. 

The Two’s and Three’s use Frog Street Press CD’s and Big Books for letters and numbers. They have “circle time”, where they learn the calendar, the days of the week, and weather. They receive instruction in letters, numbers, shapes, colors, patterns, health safety, science, and social studies.

Each class uses the Christ Light Bible curriculum that has lessons based on the Old and New Testaments.  Chapel time with Pastor Mark is held in the church once a week. 

Pastor Mark is exceptionally gifted in the field of music.  He presents music appreciation from the “Sing and Make Music” curriculum.

 “Growing Fit” is a fitness program patterned after a nationally recognized fitness program for children.  Each class will also have Spanish once a week.  The Frog Street Press curriculum is used for Spanish.  School musical programs are presented at Christmas and the end of the year.

Good Shepherd Learning Center admits children of any race, color, or national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to children at the center.  It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other center-administered programs.
